while changing plugs/wires today i was working on the passenger side when three out of four thin plastic tubes running from behinde the engine to the front of the engine broke  /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> .two go to the coffee can lookin emissions thing (only one of those broke). the other , a green one (running to the emissions part that is connected to the manifold and the exhaust manifold, also on passenger side)sorry dont know the name on that one, and a yellow one that unfortunatly i didnt see where it came from.in all i broke the green, yellow, and red ones. the truck was idleing high to begin with so i dont know if the breaking of these tubes is important. sorry to be so long winded just needin some help

I just replaced those on my ride a couple of weeks ago.I ,fortunately had spares, but you should be able to pick'em up at AutoZone or such,as this is a given problem for all older model Fords. The vacuums come from the opposite side of the engine and wrap around the rear of your intake, theyre easy to access and easy to replace.

The red one going to the coffee can is required for your A/C to function correctly. Without it, your vents won't function properly especially when you put a load on the engine. The green one is for the EGR. I'm not sure what the yellow one was used for on the 89 Bronco, but there is a vacuum diagram on the radiator support that is color coded to match the lines. Just follow that to make sure all connections are correct. You can repair the lines with 1/8 inch ID hose. Just cut a small piece and splice the two ends of a broken line together. The old lines become brittle with heat and sometimes it is necessary to replace them.

Good luck,

:)>-

I'm with Seabronc, get some 1/8 ID rubber hose and cut the 1/8 in tubing into 1 inch lengths, then insert the broken lines into the tubing.

the yellow line goes to the top of the thermactor valve behind/below the intake plenum can be a P.I.T.A to replace so use the duct tape but get the camo type so no one sees it..lol

Mines broke already, so until its fixed I'll wait, but when I am running, you wont be seeing me near as often because I love to wheel. I even find mudholes on my way to work.
