While I really like my first Bronco and I knew gas mileage was going to be an issue, these 33 tires are not going to cut it for regular use. What would be a fair price range for stock wheels and tires? I would like to keep the 33's for my weekend fun, but right now I have 146 miles and down 1/2 a tank! I guess that is not too bad, as I was hoping for at least 300, still would like to get either aftermarket or factory wheels. What is a goos size for aftermarket wheels if I can't find stock replacements? I really never planned on making it an everyday vehicle, this is Texas you can ride pretty much year round maybe it is just pump shock?

Thanks,

Richard

yo Richard,

I think you have a 93?

If so, was PSOM (Speedo) recalibrated fro the 33's

if not, then Odometer is off as well as PSOM

Original tires were P235/75R15 if I recall correctly;

Diameter about 29 inches

Your current 33 diameter is about 33 inches

so, running at 60 MPH actual, PSOM would show 68.3 MPH

and odometer would show higher mileage travelled than actual

Optional I believe, were P265/75R 15SC; diameter about 29.5 inches

Original wheel sizes were if I recall correctly;

for stock P235/75R15 - 15x 6"

for P265/75R 15SC - 15 x 7.5"

Michelin and other still sell P235s

Check local yards for some good wheels and maybe some good tires; inspect carefully along sidewall and for plug/patches internally.

For a YARD SEARCH on-line, I use;

year, etc, then FORD TRUCK

Thanks for all the info miesk5! I did not even think about the tire/speedo issue they were on there when I bought it last week. That may be part of my fuel issue as well, running faster then I think I really am? I do want to do some runs with the stock size tires that came on the truck and see what happens?

Thanks again

Richard

yo RICHARD,

YW!

If you ever stay w/ther 33s or larger; you can reprogram the PSOM

See my site @ http://www.broncolinks.com/index.php?index=651

BUT The PSOM can only be reprogrammed six times.

However;

Our sponsor here; Jeff's Bronco Graveyard has the Superlift Speed Sensor Recalibrator

# 38051 New

1992-93 Ford Bronco all $189.00

http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-38051-superlift-speed-sensor-recalibrator.html

Jeff's Beats Many on-line retailers by as much as $40.00+!!

& Jeff at the Bronco Graveyard has offered a 2% discount to members of The BroncoZone for on line orders. To get your discount, enter the discount code BZMEMBER. Also you must include your BroncoZone User Name with the order.

Corrects speedometer / odometer readings, and the speed signal sent to the Engine, Powertrain, and Anti-lock Brake Control Modules. Besides the obvious, these modules affect fuel delivery, engine timing, and automatic transmission shift points

Eliminates speed signal related reductions in engine performance and fuel economy, as well as related changes in exhaust emissions

Infinite adjustability provides precise speed signal calibration to within 1%

Two settings allow off-roaders that seasonally run different height tires to correct their speed signal by flipping a switch Simple four-wire hookup

Includes complete instructions and adjustment charts

Can be recalibrated infinitely for future tire size or gear ratio changes

Call Superlift to confirm part number needed.

Thanks for links and all he info, I did not know about Jeff's and the discount, I think I found this site through his or vice versa? I already started a wish list there! I really did not buy the Bronco for off roading,(still think I want to keep the 33, they are brand new). The speedo unit from Jeff's sounds like what I need, besides a more street friendly tire and wheel.

I have just always liked them since I first rode in one back in 69/70? Then as I Got older in the 80s I couldn't afford one and finally in 94 I started leasing from Ford but had to start cheap. Now after 20 years of leasing Fords and buying a Tahoe which is gone now I am back to my Fords!

yo,

YW!

On that Superlift Speed Sensor Recalibrator

I don't know your electrical experience, so read the instructions and decide if you need yto DIY or farm it out; preferably to an automotive electrical shop. They have the diagrams needed to confirm Superlift's info and will solder wires and insulate properly vs some shops' use of Scotch Lock connectors that can loosen up or not make proper contact.

I have the PSOM Wiring Diagram in a 92

Source: by GENCO

But the 92 does not have 4WABS

Call Superlift to confirm part number needed.

I did a quick review of the Superlift Speed Sensor Recalibrator instructions and can confirm that the R/PK (red/pink) wire in Table A is correct
