I already posted a question for my 1989 Bronco tranny leak however I have a new question and Pic's. From my other post I found a tranny leak between the Tranny and Transfer Case. I pulled my Transfer case and didn't find any evidence of a tranny leak. I did see where the Transfer case was leaking at the bottom of the seal. I have never pulled a tranny and transfer case apart in a Ford before Chevy only. I didn't see an output shaft seal coming frome the tranny.

All I see is the shaft coiming out of the tranny with a rectangled looking piece of metal attached to the shaft with a C-clip to secure it in place. The only seal I see is on the Transfer case which I removed because of the leak at the bottom and to take to the parts store on Sunday. Also when I turned the ends of the case to spin the yoke it started to drip at the bottom of the seal. The seal looks nothing like the three the parts store sold me.

Is this the only seal to change beacuse thats all I see if I can get the darn thing at the parts store. I need my truck for work Monday so any help would be great.

hi lawman

There is only a seal on the output shaft on 2wd-tranny with extension housing (no. 27).

exploded draw AOD

On 4wd is no seal on the output shaft. So all you need is the seal between the tranny and the transfer case (no. 17). It looks like grey or black paper.

The ATF also lubricate the transfer case.
