I have running boards that I believe are aluminum and they have the sticky adhesive safety grip tape that is black coming off of them on each side. It looks real trashy and would be cool to replace if I can do so cheap. could i just buy 3m black tape from wal-mart or is there a standard for this that I should know about?

also, someone told me to use a heatgun to help peel off the old stuff.

lemme know what you think

thanks !

orange oil gets rid of sticky adhesive residue pretty well. and it's organic!

i can't find a pic online... but it is not a hard to find product. i got mine at walmart. or try autozone or lowes or home depot. not hard to find -- about $3 per bottle. use it sparingly -- it will last forever. squirt it on and let it soak, then razorblade or thumb nail it up. your hands will smell nice! (my wife hates the smell of wd40, so this is a plus). great for tons of other projects too.

if it's 3m tape you can trust it -- just find the cheapest place to buy it. i wouldn't buy the knock off brand from walmart, though -- stick with a name brand.
