I have a 1995 Bronco 5.8, My question is I converted to a dual exhaust system and 2 of the o2 sensors are gone. The truck is running rich and I'm getting terrible gas milage. The check engine light keeps blinking on and off,I talk to someone who actually makes the o2 sensors and he was going to tell me what I had to do,but the only thing I can remember is that he said the wires white to white and black to gray on the sensors. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Bronco Geo

I think you better put the O2 sensors back in. That is how the computer tells how to adjust the fuel to air ratio. It thinks you are running lean. Any muffler shop should be able to mount them in the exhaust stream for you.

Good luck,

I agree with Seabronc. There are, however a few different things you can do. There is a product on the market called a "mil" eliminator which sends the PCM a false signal fooling it and keeping the light off. This will also adjust the air/fuel ratio to a certain extent.

The best thing to do is take the vehicle to an exhaust shop and have them simply drill a hole in the exhaust and weld a nut in place to allow for the installation of the O2 sensor.

The front sensor measures the amount of air/fuel mixture leaving the exhaust while the second sensor in line measure it a second time and sends the info to the PCM for adjustments. This is why you are having such a hard time.

Hope this helps. --Vince

I assume that he was trying to tell you is how to cheat the PCM and make it think everything is OK. That is what vincendebbie was talking about. It actually only fools the computer into not turning on the check engine light. Also a cheating device makes the computer set the fuel air ratio at a given average point not necessarily the best point, but the engine will run on it. It will not let the computer adjust to various external conditions to keep the fuel air ratio at it's optimum.

Forget the black to gray and white to white business if you ever want it to run properly.

Good luck,

:)>-

Trying to trick the computer is a pretty nuts idea with fuel prices as they are today.

Hopefully the connector for your O2 sensors are still intact, and all you'll need to do is plug them in.

Otherwise you'll need someone with a good diagram to make sure you have the wires connected properly.

I have a '90 EVTM, the wiring is a little different depending upon which engine one has, I can only assume that it is also dependant in 1995.

You should post your engine and truck vitals in your sig file like most others do here.

have the o2's put back on and it will work just fine.
I am going to put them in. One thing is how many are there in a 1995 351W there is one in a little crossover pipe that connects the two, then I don't see any other or wire connectors hanging down to put more in.

There is only the one on that year. Ask the muffler shop the best place to put it, unless you have an h or x type pipe on yours.
