okay so yesterday i drove my bronco around town. not a problem. parked. got in it today started it and it idled really rough and smoked pretty bad out of the exhaust. i sat for about 30 seconds seeing if it would even out and it didnt. i tried giving it some gas and it seemed to rev up strong and sound normal. but when it gets back to idle its rough again..... any idea?

i only did one thing to it. i took the battery out of it and put it in my other project truck. that truck has some crazy electrical problems and when i attached the positive and negative cables, it melted the negative cable (yes melted) thats a question for a different day though. anyway, when that happend i said ***** that ill deal with it later and put the battery back in my truck. could that have anything to do with it? iv never heard of a bad battery causing it to do all that.... any help is appreciated

I figured it out. Wierd but, there was a wire rubbing on the alternator. It rubbed the insulation off and was bare wire hitting the fins on the alternator spinning. I picked it up off the alternator and instantly it stopped smoking and idled perfect. I for one was amazed.
