rough driving and stalling

i have a 86 5.0 efi. when i bought it it ran great. once a month it would have its period and decide to die when i came to a stop then the next day it would be fine. now it does it all the time. it like dies everytime i stop. i have to hold brake and gas to keep the idle up when i stop. also when driving it kinda drives rough kind like a sputter or a shudder. and when it does it i can smell un burnt gas like its running rich. one more thing it does is when driving at like 65 or so on the freeway. if im just cruisin and let of the gas ever so slightly every once in a while it will like bog down like a just down shifted in a big rig. then i hit that gas a little and it kicks back in. maybe not gettin gas? i replaced the ieac or idle air control or whatever its called and it ran great for a few daya then took a dump again. check engine light is out and when i hook up the computer to read codes it wont even register that its hooked up. what could my prob be. thanks.

Check your plug wires. Mine did that and I found the #7 wire loose on the cap.

I have the exact same thing goin' on right now with my '89. I've changed out the fuel filter, battery, cables, cap, rotor, plug wires, plugs and coil. (Needed it all anyway...it was time). Nothing yet. I'm working on the fuel pump. Will let you know if that was it. Unless you found a solution?

Exact scenario with my carbed 81. Thought it was the carb, so i rebuilt it. Checked my wires, all fine. The idle in drive is uber low, but when gassed it usually runs alright. I have the bogged down sputter every now and then at low speeds (35mph). Most of my problems are at stop lights, as i too have to do the foot on brake and foot on gas deal. I am currently going through and cleaning or replacing most any thing i can afford, but no luck thus far.
