The "slug" is a smaller-diameter tubing. If the I.D. of the cage tubing is 1-3/8", the slug O.D. is 1-1/4". The length can be like 3"-6" inches. It's welded to the bottom plate, and a hole is cut thru the floor so it can stick inside of the cage tubing base on top of the floor. This reduces alot of the roll or flex of the cage mounted to two plates, and adds more strength over just the bolts that hold the plates together.

Ok not to get off topic about the roll cages or anything but i was at The Home Depot the other day and i was looking at some stuff for my snorkel. I can either get pvc piping in a 10 foot length for 12 bucks then i have to buy the elbows and everything which are like 4 and 5 dollars a peice. I kept looking around and i found like a heater hose or the thick flexible plastic people use for drainage which is 10 feet for 3 bucks. All i would have to do with that is conect it to the elbow coming out of the fender, figure out a way to strap it going up the pillar, and figure out something for a cap up top, but I iwll probably just shoot it straight back and disconnect it under the hood when i go back to street driving. Which do you think would be my better bet?

I think the PVC pipe would be much sturdier and easier to mount up .The flexible hose would work, but might get torn off driving thru brush or tree limbs. My $0.02
