restoring emissions

Hi all. I have several questions concerning restoring my emissions. Sicne I have several questions, I will post each one in a new topic instead of cramming them all here.

My vehicle info is in my signature.

On my intake manifold there is a manifold for vacuum hoses. behind it there is a plug. Is this plug used for anything special or is it just another place to put vacuum ports?

It is hard to make out, but if that plug is in the water jacket portion of the intake manifold, it is most likely plugging a hole in which a VCV would be mounted.
