Hello

My name is Koryo. I am planning to purchase a 95 bronco v8 5.8L eddie bauer editon. The bronco has 142000 miles. all seems to be in working order. I am takeing the car in for full check up, but how reliable is the ford 5.8 v8 engine. I have heard great things about the engine but would like to hear from ford experts. Many of my friends have to told me to buy a toyota truck for reliablity but toyota does not come close to the fun factor that ford bronco potentially has.

Would love to hear some feed back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thansk in advance

The 351W or 5.8L V8 is a reliable motor and should last 180-200K miles or more with proper care and maintenance. Have the shop check the oil pressure and compression on the engine, and check closely for any oil leaks. Good luck, JSM84

Welcome to BroncoZone. I have a '96 XLT with 5.8 (mechanicaly the same as an Eddie Bauer) with over 195,000 miles. It runs great and I drive it several times a year from my home in central TX to visit family in KY (1,100 miles) and southern NM (700 miles). Like JSM84 said, have your shop verifiy that it has been well maintained and you should be very happy with it as long as you keep up the maintenance. One last thing. The 5.8 is a great engine in the Bronco, but mileage can drop into the single digits if you make a habbit of standing on the gas pedal around town. Mine got around 12-13 MPG on the highway when I bought it, but with a few small modifications and more conservative driving habbits, it now gets about 15 sometimes even 16 on the highway.

in my opinion 142k isnt too much of a high mileage count on a bronco, i had 180+ on my 302 before it had anything go wrong with it. If the 351 was properly maintained you should be fine, yes have the oil pressure and compression checked def, but also have the mechanic take it for a little road test and feel/hear the transmissiona nd rest of the drivetrain at work and see if everything seems in good working order. ya never know, you could get a bronco that was very well taken care of and enjoy it for years to come. post up some pics of it inside and out, wed all like to see

Good motor as long as you don't goose it to 6,000 RPM's all the time (yeah yeah, I know V8's don't do that but the motor was said to be "built" for that kind of stuff)
