reinstall crankshaft (**** while driving continued)

Pulled crankshaft and distributor off to change module.Now cant get crankshaft back in,I thougt I

kept everything the same so it would go back in it wont,I dont want to force it.Any suggestions????

You must mean the distributor shaft its considered one unit . The distributor gear is helical cut so wherever you want the rotor to point you must go to the left a little further than where you want it to be then when it drops in itll be right where you want it to be . The reason it wont just drop in is the oil pump drive shaft fits into the hex in the end of the distributor shaft and it probably isnt lined up . If you bounce the distributor up and down a bit the shaft may turn and drop in if it doesnt you can put a breakerbar on the 15/16 crank bolt and turn the crank back and forth a bit to get it to line up . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Thanx Bro. Also from Michigan (Wyandotte south of Detroit) Arizona Bronco no rust but a few other headaches though.Yea I can see the oil pump shaft Ill keep trying.
