I have a '96 EB. My rear window switch on the dash won't work... the key will roll down the window from the rear/outside, so i know the motor, etc., is fine. i've been told by a mechanic/friend to start by replacing the switch at the dash, then go to the harness in the tailgate if the switch didn't fix it. while i am a little mechanical, i'm no mechanic.

any suggestions on where/how to start and should i start with the switch? i have received a new switch that i got from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard online. any help would be appreciative, and i'd also appreciate and not take offense if you guide me like i'm a 3rd grader. thanks!

First off, there are two fuses involved. One for the tailgate key switch and one for the driver dash switch. If it will go up and down from the key switch on the tail gate there is nothing wrong with the tail gate harness or anything else inside the tail gate. If you look at the diagram I'm including as an attachment, you will see that the dash master has to be functional for the tail gate key switch to work as the ground return is thru the contactrs in the dash switch, which also eliminates the connections and wires from the tail gate to the dash switch. It is possible that the rocker part of the dash switch is bad but not likely, since it makes the contact for the ground return. That leaves the connection to the fuse or the fuse itself, fuse 14.

Good luck,

:)>-
