:(( New to the site. My dad gave me his 87 bronco full size recently. I love the truck but recently the passenger and driver side windows went out. I got in there and fixed those not problem. But now the tailgate window motor went bad. It didn't go dead but it was not strong enough to move the window. instead of the motor going in a circular motion it pushed in and out? Wierd. But now i got a new motor and it went in fine. But when i tried to roll the window down it went a little then it made a loud noise as if the motor was skipping the teeth. But it isnt skipping the teeth the motor wont even move the window. it will go down if i push it and it removes some slack and then it will go down a little more and then ill have to do the same thing again. Any advice will be appreciated.

THank Dave

That noise may have been the spring in the regulator. In any event, I'd check the following;

1. Make sure the window is not binding on the sides of the cap.

2. Make sure that the window is in both door side tracks.

3 Make sure the regulator arms are properly engaged in the window support tracks. They could be gummed up with old grese and dirt so check that.

4. It may be necessary to remove the window and pull the regulator out so you can see if there is a mechanical problem with it. While out plug in the motor lead and see if the regulator functions properly without the window.

That's all I can think of right off the top of my head.

Good luck,

:)>-

gut the tailgate and pull the top off permantly. it looks way cooler that way. plus chicks LOVE going *******.....in your truck.

on a more serious and sober note, pull the access panel on the tailgate, and have a buddy watch the window and motor/regulator as you run it up and down. that way, he will be able to tell you what he sees so you will be able to further narrow down the problem
