where is a good place in central oregon to get a set of planetary gears for my bronco for cheap... i dont want to spend a lot of money on it since i plan on getting a detriot locker differential as soon as i can come up with the 200-300 bux for it, but i just want something to wheel around with for now. my rear end is an 8.8 with trac-lok, and the gears and clutch plates are fried. the good news is that the ring and pinions are in great shape still. if anybody can help me i would be greatly appreciative.

oh wait i just reread your post...lol that is a locker kit. when my spyder gears blew in my rear end and the ring and pinion was ok. i got just a spyder kit from my ford dealer. ran about 80 bucks and put them in, about 1.1/2 to 2hours. you will need to remove the brake drums so u can slide the axles out of the c-clips. hope this helps :)>-

or u can try ebay as well http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Explor...018127119QQrdZ1

thanks for the info... hopefully i can find an 8.8 laying around to scrap some gears from... now i was wondering, since i havent removed the carrier from the pumpkin, do i need to set the preload or backlash after i put the spider and side gears back in it or can i get by for now without? i ask cuz as soon as i get the money im getting a detriot ez locker for it, and id rather not ***** with the adjustments. btw- what gear ratio is axle code f9? i cant seem to find that code in any manuals or sites, ive found up to f8, which is 4.56's.

no u don't have to. just dont' touch the main caps or the pinion nut :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

just undoo the little retaining pin(make sure u install a new one) and slide out the big pin. then spin around the smaller spyder gears. then u can pop out the larger ones one the axles. then reinstall the new gears :)>- make sure u reinstall the shims for them
