Hello - I bought extended radius arms for a 1994 bronco with a 4 inch suspension lift. My question is, is it really hard to install these yourself, or should I just take it somewhere to have it done? I got a quote for $475 to install them, which includes the alignment. I'm pretty handy as I do a lot of work myself, but I don't want to get in over my head. Thanks in advance.

Welcome Thomas,

This is a nut and bolt job. Fairly easy, just be sure to have sturdy jack stands, and a decent trolly jack. If you don't have instructions with the kit, get a good manual. ( good to have anyway.)

The manual recomends locktight on the old bolts, and you must get your Bronc aligned after.

Good Luck

Hello - thanks for the response. Can you tell me if it is worth putting these on, versus the stock length arms? If there will be no big difference, then i'm going to send them back. Does it improve offroading? From what I read, they can improve performance.

The extended arms restore suspension geometry that a lift can disrupt. A 4" lift will change camber, and toe, both of which can be adjusted. Caster cannot, but the new radius arms adjust for that. Caster will not wear tires as toe and camber will, but it can be a factor effecting handling and steering.

Bottom line: the arms will put the geometry back in place.....leaving them out may have no noticeable concequences.

Good Luck

the bolts that hold the radius arms onto the axel itself are extremely tough to get off. get a pipe for leverage if you haven't done it yet!

liberal application of heat will help. Also you should actually get new bolts to replace the old ones, they are available from JBG or LMC Truck.
