Hi guys. New member here. Just wondering, I am installing some new energy suspension radius arm bushings. I was wondering whether I will need to install the old nylon things with it? NOt sure what the purpose of it is.

Not sure which part you are talking about. The parts that don't come with a kit normally are the Torque lock nut, the heat shield which is stainless and the cup washers. Take a look at this picture and tell us which part you are actually talking about. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fd/full.aspx?Page=128 To my knowledge there are no unnecessary parts

Good luck,

:)>-

Hmmm, well the kit only comes with four bushings. Thats it. Its energy suspension poly bushings. I know the original kits some with all types of things. I have to get the bushings off on the holiday weekend. I'll see how it turns out. First time replacing these things so Not sure what will have to be reused or not.

yo,

This is some info from an old pal in Bronco Forums, Streetgang

"Even if the bracket looks like its only starting to rust out, I would change it for a new one. Once you grind off the rivets and bolt it up......you can put away your grinder/wizzer wheel. I dont like the "come-along method" of changing the RA bushing, so the bracket HAS to come off anyway......why not just put new.

BTW: Jeffs Bronco Graveyard (one of our sponsors here) has the brackets for less than what my local ford dealer wanted.....and to top it off, they were OEM Ford units!"

the nylon parts are important and preferably should be replaced with new when replacing bushings. some ford radius arm bushings in 2wd applications do not have the nylon pieces. either re-use your old ones or buy a kit that supplies all of the parts you need to do the job.
