Well my problem is that when I shift it into gear (its an auto) it stalls. The engine just dies on me. An article says that the PSOM might be it but where do I find it and how do I replace it on an '87 Ford Bronco?

Thanks

Mike

Hello the Programmable Speedometer Odometer Module PSOM is usually located behind the glovebox door if you open it then pull the stops in a little bit the door will fold down also how you get at the heater core box bolts . Unfortunately your truck doesnt have one they didnt start using this until 92 with the digital odometer . There is no speedometer cable on these it gets a signal from a speed sensor either on the rear end or on the T case or if you have an E4OD it comes from the tranny . What might be happening on yours is the EGR valve is sticking open this will make it run rough and idle low . Try that . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Open the hood look to the passenger side of the motor toward the middle front of the upper intake . It bolts on with 2 bolts and theres one vacuum line going to it I think its green and an electrical connector plugged into the top of it . On a 302 the metal tube coming out of the bottom of it goes to the back of the heads and on a 351 it goes down to the exhaust manifold . If you unbolt the diapragm part from the top you will see a plunger in it . The unscrew the metal tube from the bottom of the EGR and then take the 2 bolts out you will then be able to look in the hole where it bolted to the intake and see the plunger really good if it doenst move up and down pretty easily then chances are its hanging open . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Thanks a bunch.

I started it up this morning to move inside my garage to work on it and the thing died for no aparent reason. So I had it towed over to my mechanic to let him give it a good work over for the next 5 days. Im good with small stuff but it seems the whole ignition and maybe fuel system is shot to heck and gone. :((

I'll wait and see what he finds...

Michael
