power window problems

Help! My son is having electrical problems with the power windows and rear window on his 92 Bronco. There must be a short somewhere because the $15.00 fuse blows only when the ignition is on. If the ignition is off the windows work fine. Figure that one out! Any advice would be MUCH appreciated.

The rear window has two fuses. One for the rear switch that is hot at all times and one that is only hot when the ignition is on, for the driver switch.

Attached is a diagram for an 83 window, the only difference over he years is in the number of connectors involved. Newer window circuits have one less connector and the connector numbers are not necessarily the same.

hey similar problem.. my driver side window on my 89 recently starteed slowing down and now i need to help it up and down... when ipush the botton u hear it going even when its all the way up or down.. but it really doesnt move anymore without me pulling it up or pushing down

...any easy way to fix this or should ijust go to a shop and get it fixed?

joekot, it sounds like the bushing/gear on the motor is stripped out or worn. You can replace just that part, but you still need to remove the motor. CHeck the forums and tech articles for the procedure. If you want to replace the whole dorr window motor, I've seen them for about $50 on ebay (new).
