I have a '70 Bronco with a Schrillo 61200 power steering box. Is there anyone that has any info on this, were these common? It needs to be resealed but I can't seem to find much info when Googled. Would I better off replacing it with something else? Thanks.

I've never heard of that box before. And someone had to put it on that rig from something else. PS was never offered until the 73 model year. Late 72 they did start putting PS on, but they were 73 models. As for having it rebuilt, I would contact West Texas Offroad to do it. They are cheap in terms of cost, but they do some of the absolute best work on PS boxes anywhere out there. They also might be able to help you correctly identify what the box came off of. I used them to rebuild my PS pump a couple of years ago and I loved the work they did. They were also very fast with turn around time. It took longer in shipping to & from than they had it. I was down a total of 10 days.

Come to find out it's the stock manual box with a power add on. I will contact West Texas Offroad to see if there is anything they can do. Thanks!

I would guess that's an aircraft hyd. assist., or an industrial unit of sorts.

(seems this showed up once B4 on this board)

You could research it to find it's the best thing ever., or that it's "old-school" & out dated.

What shape is the box itself in...? Safety would be the key "decision point" here as well.

What does the "pump" set-up look like..?

Initially, with limited info., I'd scrap it & install a stock EB P/S set-up.

Do post your results.......interesting..!

Ok, I have seen that set up one time before. It was an aftermarket add on that I think was geared towards the "heavy duty off road" crowd. I don't remember who it was that slapped their name on those, but I know that they were seen (or a similar ram-assist type actuator) on some of the Stroppe EBs. Man, I wish I remembered which company it was that did that. Anyway, I would do a Bully Bob suggests, see if you can find a true EB PS box and install it. It will bolt directly in place if you use a box from 73-75.
