I have a 75 EB V8 with new components. The power steering has a slight whine and I was told by the previous owner it is just how they are. I was wondering how true this is. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have 69 73 and 77s all with p/s (all factory parts) and none of them whine. The smallest tires I run are 33's.

I too have heard people complain about whining EB steering, but never actually heard one do it.

Check the fluid level. The old pumps are notorious for whining or growling when they get a little low. You can solve it by upgrading to a new saganaw pump

Add a little of lucas oil powersteering conditioner into the pump. I have found this will quiet or stop the whine most of the time. The whine is a pretty common problem with the older style ford pumps. This can happen easily if you don't get all the air out of the pump before running it, or running it low on fluid.
