i have an issue with my power steering pump. if i am trying to parallel park, and i must turn the tires back and forth, the power steering pump spits out frothy power steering fluid. has anyone had this problem?

it is accompanied by a lot of squeeling.

Maybe it doesnt like that flavour. are you using chevy ATF? Sounds like you either need a new pump (good time for a saginaw swap) or your fluid is contaminated. Maybe try flushing out all the old fluid. Might take a few trys to get it all.

Yeah, I'd change out that old stuff. I couldn't believe the difference when I changed to a Saginaw box and pump. I could actually turn my 38" tires aired down and locked in while sitting still. No more squeel, turns nice and easy but for some reason I decided to add Ram Assist. Now its one finger kick back and drink and beer... Uhhh, did I say that??

I bought a 1975 with a factory PS pump and had that same problem from the beginning, so my brother sent me his identical factory pump from his 1974 (which he no longer needed). My brothers pump seemed to work better but I noticed that it had a slight leak, so I got another used pump off Ebay that was from a newer ford vehicle with a 302 (w/some modifications I got it to work on my engine-and it works just fine). My understanding from this whole experience is that 1)factory Early Bronco PS pumps do not work very well (esp. if you have 33 inch tires or larger), 2)newer styles work better, and 3)Saginaw pumps and known or advertised HD pumps would be best.

The original pumps weren't designed to handle the load of a large tire. They definatly make a difference from manual steering though...that is for sure...one of the best upgrades I have ever done!
