Any ideas on how to remove the power steering pump pully without a pully puller? I'm built like a stringbean and my arms are getting tired of turning her when she's cold.

I am pretty certain that autozone includes various pullers in the list of tools they will loan out.

I guess one could take a 2x4 and cut wedges, tap them in between the housing and the pully, and tap the shaft with a hammer to jolt it free. No doubt.. the right tool makes the job easier.

Theres no way youll get it off witout that puller they are a press fit . You can use a 3/8-16 bolt with heavy washers to reinstall it but if you beat on it you will destroy the pump . Should be able to buy one of the pullers for around $30 . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I'm sure Blade262US is right, if one beats the pump with a hammer I'm sure he can **** it real good.

Now in my defense, I did say TAP with a hammer.

Now if you want to see Blade262US beat something with a hammer...

its a 14 meg video and literally takes 2 minutes to d/l

he's pretty good with a hammer, all the while holding a camera in the other hand.

Frankly, I don't know how sensitive the unit is to getting hit, and Blade has a lot more experience than me, so I would follow his advice, and use a puller.

SO the short story is use a puller.

Another option to rebuilding your unit that You might want to consider is doing a Saginaw swap
