Are there any power steering boxes and pumps out there that will work on the early broncos ( other than the stock of course). I've heard that F-100 and even some units from lincolns will work. Money is definetly an issue so i'm trying to figure this out rather that spend a thousand bucks on a power steering unit. if i build some kind of mounting bracket would any box work, say a 78 or 79 F-150 box? Anyone with info or expirence please help [-o< !

Obviously, stock is best......"bolt-in"

F-150 box bolts on with one hole to drill, (with a stiffener) & steering shaft mods.

Works but, liked stock better.

Remember, steering is your "LIFE-ARM" ...do it right..!

Cheap isn't always the least expensive.... [-X

First off, what year EB are you putting this in? 66-75 or 76-77? I ask this because of the different steering linkage.

The bad thing with the F-150 box is that is isn't stock, you have to modify steering linkage and it hangs down about 1-2" lower than a stock box will. If you look hard enough, you can find the 73-75 set up for under $800. I have seen them on ebay for as little as $200 but as expensive as $1200.

If you want less headaches and an easier application, get a 73-75 EB (for 66-75 EB) set up, it can be put in in less than 1/2 a day if you have moderate mechanical skills.

If you are lifted wouldn't the steering box hanging down be an advantage? Wouldn't need a drop pitman arm.

It makes the stress on the steering less, but you still should get the correct drop pitman arm. A suspension lifts everything connected to the frame up, a body lift only lifts the body up. You can have a 4 inch body lift and not have to change the pitman arm. If you put a 4 inch suspension lift on you have to change the pitman arm.
