Hey guys i was wondering if any of you had put power programmers into your trucks and what the result was. I was looking to get a little bit more power and better gear shifting. I have an 1989 Bronco 5.0 302 and was what you guys had though about these programmers. Im interested as of now, into getting a Hypertech Power Programmer for $270.

Thanks guys :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Ive used the programer in a friends truck I aquired. It takes out your original program and puts the one of your choice in its place. It was a superchip one.He noticed a big difference in the way it shifts to the increase in power. And if you need to put it back you just hook up the programer and take out the new program and reinstall your original one.

If your vehicle is stock, you might gain a few horsepower, but if you've done any mods at all, you're gonna lose hp. The programmers are tuned for totally stock vehicles. I had a Hypertech power programmer on a 96' vette and actually lost 7 horsepower with the programmer installed. Turned it back to the stock settings, spun it on the dyno and gained 7 back.

Guess it really depends on the peticular vehicle it's going on. Put one in a 91 Mustang, didn't do too much, But my 02 F150, 4.6 with true ram air and a Hypertech programmer gained quite a bit. Could be just more possibilites with the OBD II computer, but ya never know.

From what I've read, and what I talked about with my brother, Hypertech is a pretty good brand. Would you guys agree with this? Also, how hard is it to reinstall the old programming if I did want to take out the power programmer?

Well it depends. If is a chip then you just take it out and put the original in.On some fords that I put them in it would bolt in between the computer and the connector that plugs into the computer.Others use that programmer that plugs into the OBD II connector where you just push the buttons on the programmer and go through the screens till your done. For either of them you just reverse what you ve done.
