I have a question about a performance chip. I have a 1994 bronco xlt with a 351W. It has a throttlebody spacer, cold air intake, and pacesetter headers with glasspacks. Im looking at a jet chip power programmer for $260.98 and I want to know if anyone out there has used it or just whether or not i should buy it or not, thanks ahead of time for any help

I think most of the problems with aftermarket chips are that people expect too much outta them. They are like bolting on an Intake or Exhaust, they don't give monumental gains but do help throttle response and driveability which most of us are after anways. If you go with the chip call the manufactuer and tell them what mods you have made to the motor and the chip they send you will increase performance alot better than a mass produced one. Or get a programmer an invest in a Dyno Tune. Then they can really "Tune" your motor.

I agree with BB33 it is best to call the company...they usually have a help or tech line...be able to give them specs on your motor and any modifications done...just like if you were ordering a custom cam...just don't expect massive gains...like BB33 was saying thottle response will be better...a little better top end and maybe a little better grunt for pulling...after all is said and done the ultimate chose is your's....every little bit helps....it's like the old saying....speed is just a question of money...how fast do want to go.... How did your Bronco react to the headers etc. ? Did you loose any driveability ?

Ihave an 94 EB Bronco witha 351W . I've put on :

Spun Metallic Converter ; a 31' Magnaflow and 2.5 single all the way back , MSD Coil, Taylor 8.2 wires ; Bosch Platinum + 2's and K/N filter , and bumped up the timing to about 15* . I had to drop the Idle by 100 just from that .

waste of time and money......dont do it, sink the money elsewhere

I beg to differ! The chip isnt very effective unless used with other perfomance enhancing parts eg... intake, exhaust, headers, tb spacer, etc. The chip changes your fuel MAP among other things. I have one in my BMW with other parts and noticed a huge difference! If you think that $200-$300 is a lot of money then I would suggest you find a cheaper hobby. My opinion: Go with a chip!

your BMW is a completely different animal than the old-school bronco EFI system. "chips" don't really help broncos that much, especially if it's still speed density.

i was referring to the simple fuel injection system run on our trucks......not the one in newer cars, especially the BMW where everything is computer controlled

My BMW is an 86. Not too sophisticated. Actually its one step ahead of mechanical fuel injection they did in the early 80's. If this guy still has speed density then the parts that he has on there already arent gonna help him out too much anyway. Especially the redneck glasspacks that restrict flow pretty @#$#^&$ bad. If he has mass air then I am still gonna say to chip that mother...
