Anyone have a trouble code P1351: IDM Circuit Malfunction?

I have a 1996 Ford Bronco, 351W.

Just wondering on any quick ideas on how to fix this.  the bronco is sputtering while driving, lack of power, felt like a fuel issue, then my check engine light started flashing.

I have a cylinder 3 misfire, and this P1351 IDM trouble code.

the misfire I am aware on how to fix, but this IDM circuit malfunction I have no clue on this one.

any help would be much appreciated.

yo M,

DTC P1351 Ignition Diagnostic Monitor Circuit Input Fault

Possible causes
- Faulty Ignition Control Module
- Engine misfire
- Ignition Control Module harness is open or shorted
- Ignition Control Module circuit poor electrical connection
Also;

..P1351 can occur if the Ignition Module was replaced with the Gray one instead of a Black one. The ICM Should be Black in color for the CCD Type Module. Many Ford parts sources are incorrect and show that this vehicle should have a Grey module. If it is gray, replace w/ Motorcraft ICM

See Ford TFI modules: Gray or Black?

Thanks Miesk,

maybe when I fix the misfire, this code will also be fixed.  i'll replace my wires and plugs, see if that works.

if that doesn't work, i'll check out that ICM unit.

thanks for the info!

yo M,

Great DIY work!

I either forgot or over-wrote that I have the 96 Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM), Powertrain Controls and Emission Diagnosis Manual (PCED) here on CD for the Ford pin-point testing of all 96 Bronco DTCs

Best ~$7.00 to $10.00 you'll ever spend on troubleshooting.  Only issue is the Ford cites use of the Break-Out Box for many tests;

it is installed inline with the PCM & PCM connector & allows you to test circuits and PCM itself.
