Does anyone have any idea why I have a popping noise from the rear of my 1988 bronco 2 on take off? I'm not sure if it's the rear drive shaft or what, if anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated. Thanks

I think I know what this is..There is a TSB from ford for this problem...As best as I can word it from memory,,,It is a slip/stick condition for the rear driveshaft where it goes into the transfercase. It wont harm anything its just annoying. The correction for this is an revised driveshaft made of aluminum which I think is like $400.00.Also with that you have to buy the new revised fuel tank shield that bolted to the side of the tank..Ive worked on many rangers and bronco IIs with this condition. When people hear the price they say ***** it.A temperory

fix that sometimes works is take the driveshaft out of the transfercase and try to put a shit load of bearing grease in the splines of the driveshaft then reinstall..Besides that you have to deal with it... :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
