I have a problen for the electrical gurus on this site. I'll try to keep it simple. I purchased my bronco a couple years ago after totaling my '89. It came with a 5.0, E4OD, BW1356, 8.8 with 3.50 gears and a 4" lift. Because the engine ran poorly I swapped in the power plant from the '89, a 5.0 bored.040 flat top pistons and a Crane cam. I used the '89 engine harness and after moving a couple wires around drove it daily till the oil pump failed destroying the bearings. I drove a '94 F150 for almost a year before the
E4OD trans puked fluid all over the highway on way to work one morning. It had a 5.8 engine so I pulled it, replaced some gaskets and installed it in the '91. I couldn't get the engine harness on the '94 to work so I replaced it with a '90 harness. I went from componet to EEC and traced and checked every wire. 2 wires are not used, power steering sensor, knock sensor. One wire remains and has me puzzled. Blue wire with yellow stripe on the '91 chassis harness. I can't figure out why or where this wire goes to on the engine.
With that said I tried to start it. It cranks over but won't start. Rechecked the sparkplug wire connections, checked for spark at #1 cyl, set timing to 10 btc while cranking with spout connector removed. Checked fuel pressure and have 38psi steady. Aquick shot of starting fluid into intake made it run breifly. I pulled the connector from the #5 cylinder and used a test light to determine there was power to the injector. Test light across the connector showed no pulsing or any light for that matter. I swapped back in my 5.0 EEC and the condition stil exists. I have a good connection from pin 20 on EEC to ground.
As it sits right now my '91 silver anniversary bronco has a 5.8 (not running), ZF 5 speed, NP 205 with twin stick shifter, 10.25 rear with yukon zip locker and D 50 TTB front. I custom built the front and rear bumpers to store air from the Broncoair compressor with quick connects for air and winch on both bumpers.
