When at a full stop if i step down on the peddle i dont have much umph. I literally cant spin my tires in the rain. once im rolling it runs like a scalded dog but not from a dead stop. any ideas? could it be the throttle position sensor? i just changed plugs and wires and new cap and rotor but still have the same issue. 1990 full size 351W

Do you know what the rear gear ratio is? Are they the original rear end gears?

Try pulling the SPOUT and set base timing to 12*, replace

SPOUT and see if that helps.. factory timing is 10*..

you don't say how many miles on your rig, could be its

just tired..

OK well i advanced the timing quite a bit and now its runs fantastically. im not sure how far i actually advanced it because I cant find the timing mark anywhere. I hooked my timing light up to the number one spark plug and then when i couldnt see the timing mark I ******** and advanced as much as i could and the mark is no where to be found. i ended up just tunning it by ear and now its running great. no pings or knocks so i guess i got it pretty close. anyway thanks for all the advice.

I have a 90 351 as well and I have my timing set at 14 with the six liter tuneup. And it runs great with almost 200k and 1/4 of that was at the hands of the local law enforcement (before I owned it). So as long as it doesnot ping or knock on accel then you didnt go too far. The timing marks are on the balancer will look like ATDC!!10!!!!0!!!!10!!!!20!!!!30BTDC. You will probably have to use a wire brush to clean the rust off the balancer at the spot where the numbers are at. Then rinse with brake cleaner dry and I very carefully paint the lines and numbers with yellow paint. Some have been known to use a Q-tip to apply small amounts of paint to the lines. The main thing is to get the lines to where you can see them with the timing light.
