Newbie Bronco 2 owner

Hey guys, I just acquired an 86 Bronco 2, 2.9, A4LD and I have a few newbie questions.

First, she wasnt in running condition. I reset it to TDC, and the firing order was a train wreck. I had to reset that as well. Plugs look good, just a little sooty. New cap and rotor from p.o.

Tried to start it, cranks easy enuf, but all it wanted to do was backfire thru the TB. This is where I want to start from. Suggestions or input? Possibly TFI ??

Also, do all 2.9's have MAF? Mine isnt equipped with it and didnt see any plugs for it, just had to ask. You never know when someone goes crazy with the wire cutters... [-X

Can't tell you about the MAF, but back firing is usually a timing issue. Could be a bad timing chain or the distributor may be out a tooth.
