I am both new to the forum and new to broncos. I always figured that if I was going to get a full size truck with all the bad gas milage and all, I might as well get a "real truck." Some friends of ours moved and did not want to take an 83 xlt with them. I took a good look at it and fell in love, took a drive and it was all over. I bought it. One of the first things I did was take the roof off and take it for a drive. It was not hard getting the screws out but it was tough getting the roof off the truck. That thing is heavy! The worst part was getting it back on. With just a little help from my wife I thought I would never get it back on without tearing it up. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.

I am looking forward to working on this truck and getting it ready for the trails. This forum is going to be a great resource.

Welcome to the 'zone!

Looks like you are down close to the coast...I live about 30 mi north of Dallas, holler at me if you're ever going to be in the neighborhood.

As far as your concerns with the top; I thought about getting some iron pipe and fabricating a long, flat "C" sort of shape with a hook on the top so that you could use a come-along attached to a tree to lift the top off/on. However, after I saw some of the soft tops available (check Jeff's Bronco Graveyard) I decided that's the way I'm going.

Good luck with your bronc!

Brian

RobertL, Howdy & Welcome to Bronco Zone!!!

Not sure where Moore, TX is located but I'm down along the Coast also. Try searching the forums for help with your factory hardtop, and if you can't find what you need just post a new topic in the 80-96 Bronco forum. Congrats on buying the Bronco, be sure to post a pic or two when you get a chance. Randy JSM84
