I had my '71 for sale for a while but its not selling and my wife finally shut up about it so its off the market. I just put in a 351w with a few performance parts. I got the Edlebrock Performer aluminum heads w/ billet roller rockers, Edlebrock Performer aluminum intake, Ceramic coated shorty headers, and a K & N air filter. Did a homeade paint job in my garage with Krylon Camo flat green paint and installed the stereo thats been sitting for almost 6 months on the garage floor. Next up a family roll cage with seat mounts, Corbeau Baja seats and 38" swamper TSLs.

C'mon guys give me some feedback. Any ideas for more upgrades? I'm not really into rockcrawling but there's not a lot of mud in the tip of Texas. Most of the 4 x 4's here are chromed out show trucks. You can run the dunes on South Padre Island if you drive far enough north but I'm a south Georgia boy. I need that soupy stuff..

If you're into the good kinda muck, I'd suggest some kind of snorkel setup. And a winch. Other'n that, the old school bronco's are hard to beat, esp. with all your upgrades haha. Just do what I do when I plan for my truck - imagine I'm already stuck, alone, and what would I need to get myself out. >

I'm working on a winch now but I want the new Warn with the compresor in it and that'll take a few months of saving. Do you know how hard it is to swap the radiator to the bed? Can I run a snorkel on a carbed engine? I had one on ly 2000 Wrangler Sport but that was EFI.

Don't hold me to all this, as I'm learning as I go myself, but...

It can't be too hard to run the radiator in the bed, just make sure you get GOOD hoses to run that far. Make sure they're durable, strong, flexy, and very well protected. And be sure to have extras, either in the truck or at home. Make sure you have a good fan blowing from the front of the truck towards the back through the radiator. Blow the heat away from the driver. When I was reading about the Pro-core 4 trucks, that's what they do and it also keeps the driver a little cooler. Added bonus, if you ever go so far as to get remote-reservoir shocks, that makes a great place to mount the remote reservoirs too. The fan will help keep the oil inside cooler, making them react better. All you'd need is someone, or you if you can, fab up some sort of brace or frame to hold the radiator.

A snorkel on a carb? I don't see why not. It would just have to be piped in in place of the air filter on top of the carb, meaning it'd have to be almost like a smoke stack on the carb if you went straight up with it. Or route it up a few inches, back towards the windshield, then follow the a-pillar up and cap it with an air fiter. The latter would be my choice. Or even up from the carb, out toward the side, and up along the a-pillar or straight up like the military humvee's.
