Hello all,

Your board was instrumental in helping me decide if a Bronco was for me.

Turns out it was. Just picked up a 1966, and am already falling in love with it.

It has the original 170 and single barrel carb, and runs pretty well.

I am looking for a kit to rebuild the carb, if anyone know of a place to buy one :)

Light top rust in the bed, its coming right up to reveal red paint below.

Plan is to take a year or so and restore her. Sounds like many individuals like Herculiner,

so plan on covering the inner tub with it. Debating the next steps. Would love to find a rotisserie

and do a tub off restore. All in good time. Also the brakes don't work, have to pump multiple times to

get any resistance at all. So I think I will start there, as well as with the carb.

I am looking forward to the challenge. I am located in Memphis, if any of you are near by and want to

meet up some time.

Thanks and I look forward to working with you all!

wheel cylinders have come down in price so much that they aren't worth rebuilding anymore.

I don't know about master cylinders. IF your truck still has a single you might consider upgrading to a double master just for safety's sake.

BTW.. welcome aboard!

Hi Brandon., welcome..,

Check this website...you may have to call them....their site is pretty confusing.

Email & website.

[email protected] http://www.carburetor.ca

Also ChinaZone may have the carb. kits, as I recall.

But first, you'll have to verify which carb. you have. Many folks switched the 1 brl carbs. over the yrs. There should be a number/letters combo. on the carb.

Something like --- C6TF F or F-1 or C1 YF or F-1 1101

BTW, what's it doing that makes you feel it needs re-building..?

Hi there Bully Bob,

It may not need re-building. Still doing my homework on how carbs work.

When we start her up we must continually hold the gas on, or she will die.

She also runs pretty rough, like she is choking and needs more fuel. Have not

driven her much though, since the breaks are out. A buddy looked at them tonight

and said it is time to just rip em out and do the disk break install that is discussed

on the forums so much.

Your bronco sounds amazing by the way! Do you have pictures posted?

As mentioned to others here probably should see about putting the brakes back into working order and after some miles decide if they perform to your likeing.

Like Elmo said.., & I've said many times...get the brakes up to spec. & you'll be suprised how well they work.

Mine are stock/drum & it stops as well as my F-150, on a dime & 9c change..!!

You can clean the brakes at ea. wheel.., insp. for leaks at the cylinders,& both plungers should function., adj. the shoes 'til they just rub the drum upon installing.

Then insp. the master cyl. Look inside the cab/firewall for leaks runn'n down. The firewall shows rust (eng. side of firewall) so it's leaking or leaked at one time.

If the fluid is rusty red.., it prob. should be pumped out or bleed them 'til it's clear.

All of this costs next to nothing....unless you need M/C or wheel cylinders, as Joe said.

In some cases., the metal & rubber lines need replacing.

Once everything is working correctly.., you can go back & fit some new shoes & you'll be good for several yrs. :D/

--OR-- then you can ponder discs.........

"Your bronco sounds amazing by the way! Do you have pictures posted?"

Thanks., Yeah...., just click on my profile........
