Ok so I have a 88 bronco. I just bought a 6" lift and im planning on 37.5 tires just want to get some opinions on if i should get these two item that a friend is selling. He has an 9" ford rear end with 4.10 excellent shape and hes selling that for 100 and he has a dana 44 straight axle coil over with 4.10 for 500 is that a good deal?

if you plan on running a 6" TTB lift, you're going to be trimming a good bit with those 37.5's. and you'll be finding the strength limits on your axles pretty quickly. the 9" is a good axle, only marginally stronger than the 8.8 though. 4.10's will **** with 37.5's, but you should get fair mileage on the highway (read: long extended drives, not stop and go). what all would you get with the front 44? radius arms, RA brackets, steering links, trac bar? or just the geared axle? if its just the axle, i'd talk him down to around 300-350. if you do plan on doing an SAS with the TTB springs, you'll be looking at around 8" of total lift ( TTB adapters for the solid 44 add about 2") also, 9" rears are a dime a dozen. talk him down to 75

if you plan on running anything bigger than 35" tires id do a SAS. over 35" and it is hard to allign the ttb and it cant realy handle it.

the TTB can handle tires over 35's, probably to about a 37" max. but it will be difficult to keep it aligned. so you can either invest in lifetime alignments, or do the swap. IF you decided to do the swap, absolutely make sure you know what your getting yourself into before you start tearing shit apart

Agree with the other posts, know what your getting into. the other thing you need to know is if there is a vehicle speed sensor on the 8.8 rear end , this controls the trans shift points. the 9" wont have it, it is however a MUCH stronger rearend than the 8.8. 4:10's will be lots of gear for 37's, unless you plan on rock crawling. any lower gears will affect your fuel mileage.

yeh the front end comes with radius arms and ra brackets and steering links im not sure about the trac bar however, the guy i bought it from works at a wrecking yard and he pulled it off a 89 as with the rear axle came from the same truck and he was planning on putting it in his truck. So he told me its basicly a bolt on project and he was gonna install it with me. Now as for the rear axle i thought the speed sensor was in the transmission or is that wrong on an 88 bronco? btw way thanks for all the info guys im new into working under the truck. Oh and btw the truck inst my daily driver. Its to get me to the mountain and back and for mudding/trail driving

on your rig, the speed sensor is in the rear end, but your trans is not controled by it. since you have an 88, you either have the AOD or C6 trans. i hope saying the front end was off an 89, and you meant 79. if its from an 89, that aint a solid axle. if you are just getting into wrenching on your truck, i highly suggest holding off and studying/reading/learning as much as you can about your truck. yes it is basically bolt on, but there IS welding and fabrication needed.

ok i found out it was taken off a wrecked bronco It is a ford 9 inch rear end that was put on the bronco with 410 gearing and the dana 44 straight axle was also taken off the same bronco and also has 410 gearing its not an 8.8 rear end the bronco would be stock if it didnt have the rear and front end conversion and lift thats why i said it was modded.

ok. you can talk him down to 350-400 for the front axle, including all the bracketry that goes with it. and 100 for the 9" is OK, but you could most likely talk him down to 75. 9" are everywhere, and gears are easy to setup on them since the 3rd member is removeable.
