Hello everyone, I'm going to be getting a 86 bronco 4x4 from my neighbor for clearing out his jungle in the back yard. It has been sitting for awhile and he thinks it has a cracked flywheel. So im hoping to be able to put a flywheel on it, tune it up, and change all the fluids. Not sure which engine is in it, haven't even looked actually. He says it has the C6 trans, im hoping its the 351HO. But im hoping to learn some things from this site, this will be my first 4x4 vehicle. I have always had older V8 cars so this will be a learning experience for me. But if anyone has any tips for me on these im all ears.

Welcome to the zone. I'd would start out by purchasing a chilton and/or haynes manuals, they're very helpful.

Welcome to the Zone > . A chilton or Haynes is a good basic maintenance manual to start with, but they both are a Readers Digest version of the real thing. The main problem is that they leave out a lot of detail that is in a real set of Service Manuals. Also their wiring diagrams will give you a headache in about 5 minutes or less. If you intend to be a serious wrencher on that vehicle I'd suggest that you invest in a set of real manuals, the first one being an Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual followed the Body and Engine manuals. They are found on eBay as dealers sell their old manuals to book sellers. I just did a search and their were none for an 86 but if you do the following search on eBay about once a week they will show up "1986 Ford Bronco EVTM" and "1986 Ford Shop Manual". Just make sure it is not for a Bronco II. What you are looking for is for "F150 - F350 and Bronco"

Good luck

:)>-

Yes i will pick up the shop manuals for it. I actually popped the hood today to see which motor it has. Its the FI 302, not to happy about that but it is what it is. Might start looking for a 460 to drop in depending on how the 302 runs.
