Welcome to Bronco Zone!!!

I also wonder what "good stuff" might be. Are you looking for dress-up items to make the engine look better, like chrome valve covers and such? "Stuff" like that can be found in many auto parts stores, or online at places like Summit Racing or Jeg's. If you are wanting performance goodies/stuff like camshafts and carburetors, those places have that, too. Hope you get the engine running, first!!!

I would start with a couple of manuals first since you want to build your knowledge up. Look for the Chilton's and Haynes manuals for that cover the 79 Bronco. This will help you get your engine running. As for the rest, sit down and make a list of what has to be done and what I would like to do, this will help you on your quest. What sort of off roading will you be doing, mud, rocks, sand, etc., gear your build up around the trails you'll be running. Although the 351/400M is no race car engine, you can still build it to be a torquer. Check out this web site for ideas. http://home.earthlink.net/%7Ebubbaf250/index.html

As for the tranny, heavy duty torque convertor, valve body shift kit, fluid cooler will all improve your tranny. Lift kits are available from numerous manufactures, 3" is the most common and easiest to install. Explore this web site, see if someone has already done what you want to do and don't be afraid to ask questions, we are all here to help each other out.
