I appologise in advance for the long post and this has also been posted in the FSB website but im getting NO answers...
Ok im starting to get desperate here, weather has started to turn and i don't really want to ride my motorcycle here in 30*-40* weather at 4am on my way home from work everyday.....
i brought in my bronc about a month ago and failed the emissions tests due to a high % of HC and CO... here's my results
IDLE SPEED CO 5.11% Greater than 1.20%
HIGH SPEED CO 1.44% Greater than 1.20%
IDLE SPEED HC 2171 Greater than 220 PPM
so i brought it into the shop to get a diag done and they told me there was a leak in the intake that was causing me to run lean on cyl #6 and 1 i believe, and that it needed a new set of intake gaskets so i bought the parts and installed myself, truck still stinks as bad as it did before... im going to bring it in tomorrow to see if itll pass smog but i still need/want to get these trouble codes fixed...
koeo im getting
558 - EGR Vacuum Regulator circuit failure
332 - EGR valve opening not detected.
112 - ACT sensor signal is less than the Self-Test minimum of 0.2 volts.
so i took the EGR out and attempted to clean it with a drill (as the Chiltons recommends) and got a bunch of black stuff out of there, also the diaphram is in good condition and i am getting good electrical signals to the EVP... should i just replace the EGR and go from there?
from what i can gather about the ACT it may just be that the truck was cool during the test and that i should really not worry about it...
Also with the way that i failed the smog the first time leads me to believe that i am running WAY rich and not lean as the mechanics said, but i am unsure... what do you think?
any bit of info would be GREAT i really want to get this pig registered soon...
i tested the ACT sensor and my results are
(2000k setting)reading is 26 at 60 degrees F (ambient temp) And if im reading the forfuelinjection.com correct that looks to be about right But please correct me if i am wrong
the EGR is not holding 10 hg of vac for more than a min so that would mean the diaphram is bad and the egr needs to be replaced correct?
Also i found an interesting.... extention that the PO looks to have made for the EVP solenoid and removed that, now my codes have changed from
558 332 112
to
111 - Pass (so i guess that fixed the 558 code)
10 - Seperator
118 - ECT sensor signal is greater than the Self-Test maximum of 4.6 volts. (from what i understand the ECT also allows the computer to make changes to the fuel ratio depending on what the temp of the engine is)
332 - EGR valve opening not detected.
334 - DPFE or EVP circuit above the closed limit of 0.67 volts. ( i do not have a DPFE sensor do i? )
Heres the pics of the odd extention that i removed and changed the codes.
anyone know what exactly that may have been used for?
Ok sorry again for the long post but any help beyond this point is VERY much appreciated i really do need to get this thing registered and passed smog soon
