hey guys i havent been on in along time due to a computer error haha, but anyway, i have an 89 bronco exl and the rear went, i had a posi 4:10 8.8 in it and i broke the posi unit and sheared off very single bolt that bolted the ring gear to it. a buddy of mine sold me a good ford 9 inch rear and i have it installed already but the driveshaft doesnt bolt up to it, the u joint caps are too wide and dont "lock in" to the yoke behing them little square tabs on the yoke of the rear, and the yoke from the 8.8 doesnt fit the 9 inch rear, so does anyone know a specific u joint that would fit my stoick shaft but also fit the 9 inch rear, or is there another yoke that will fit the 8.8 u joint but still bolt to the 9 inch rear? i just got a new job so i need all the help i can gte to get this thing up and going asap,

thanks guys

you can try swapping caps on the u-joints. But you'll likely have to have the driveshaft modified with the 9" yoke on one end, and still be able to bolt up to your t-case. the length may need to be adjusted, too, since the 9" driveshafts are a bit longer than those for the 8.8". I'm going thru the same thing on my 84 with truck axles and a Bronco t-case. Wish they were all the same size yokes for the u-joints but they're not. JSM84

You can swap the caps as jsm84 said, I just did that on another Bronco.

Get a drivshaft from a truck with a 9" rear and then pull the boot off the shafts and try swapping the ends.

That sounds like a super simple solution, but...

Even if the two halfs match up, (which I dont know) it sounds to me like that would be just begging for vibrations as the driveshaft was balanced when it was built and you two pieces would need to be balanced as a unit.
