Hellow all. This is a REALLY hard one. I am trying to replace my regular alternator with a new 200Amp one to supply my massive sound system. It fits on the bracket, but is significantly different in that it has different plugs. One plug, the one labeld ASI, will fit on both. But the new one has a terminal on the back. When i put the old plug on the new one, i just ran a big wire from the terminal to the solenoid. It worked, but i think i might have hooked something up wrong because the internal regulator must not have been working, as it was charging the HECK out of my bettery with 18 volts! It wont stop! Does anyone have any advice? Am i missing something? Am i hooking something up wrong? Help me please, this thing was expensive! Here are some pictures...

The website helped alot, but i did all of those steps, and my alternator wont stop pumping out 18 volts! It makes the acid come out of the gass vents on my battery. I think the internal regulator might be fried or something because despite following the instructions on the link, it still isnt working correctly, unless by me not putting that big a$$ cable on the new terminal it somehow makes it pump out MORE voltage than needed. And it wont back down.

Thank you, i will upgrade the wire from the terminal to the solenoid. I have a diagram similar to the one u posted. Both are lebeled ASI, on the new and old. I have wired them every way possible to try and get it to work. Ill take a good look at it again tomorrow and try to figure it out. Whats weird is that the green/red wire labeled indicator light seems to have no effect on the alternator, plugged in or not. It still pumps out 18 volts to the battery.
