I recently picked up one of the nicest 79 Broncos I've seen in decades! Unfortunately, while I can find virtually any answer I need for my early Bronco, I've been unable to find out a lot about the second gens. Portions of this truck are worthy of being put back in "correct" factory condition, but I'm finding answers to be hard to come by.

For instance, I want to convert the aftermarket steering wheel back to stock. However, it appears the OEM wheel up to '77 is different than the '78 and up wheels. I'm wondering the difference and if the second gen wheels are available? Also, my truck came with "Sand" interior, but I've been unable to source sand vinyl. Anyone know of a source for that?

Mainly, I'm hoping someone can point me to the second generation Bronco authority. Anyone have suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Yo Rival,
Welcome to our Bronco site!
Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge, new second generation steering wheels aren't available. However the e bay market can be a viable source.

Our 78 Bronco had this wheel in place:

It's also available in the 79. See the 1979 Bronco Brochure @ https://www.xr793.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/1979-Ford-Bronco.pdf via Dezo's Garage

I have 2-78 bronco,s and both steering wheels are different. One is like Al showed and the other has a bar goes across it and the small Ford name in the center. I,ll try and get a picture the next couple of days. The pick-ups should be the same too.

If you will also notice--the upside down steering wheel has cruise control on it--where the other one DOES NOT. I,m gonna try and make it over in Webster next week and hopefully get a couple of them. One for L/Bronco
Now looking at the wheel . Its bugging me. Think I,ll correct it today. haha
