Here is what I have done:

Removed and rebuilt Holley 4412 manual carb, removed PS pump, dropped pan and installed new filter on C4, removed and replace original fuel selector valve, r/r alternator, valve covers, starter, remove points and installed Pertronix Ignitor ignition.

Now for the mystery.....

Cleaning out my catch pan I found this....  I don't see them described on any of my schematics for the carb or the C4.

Anyone recognize this???

Thanks guys, I found a picture on a mustang site and I think I have found my culprit.  The filter apparently holds in this pin and spring, I am just glad that I found them B4 I dumped all of my fluids in (only about 2 quarts, B4 I reconsidered my issue.... On the filter there is a metal tab that can be bent back in order to insert the pin and spring without removing the filter again.

I will keep you posted....

Thanks for the help.
