Hi again..

84 bronco, automatic, 302, Motorcraft 8191 A Carburator.

How do I figure out what year my motor is? I know it isn't an 84 'cause it's been replaced.

Thanks folks!

The first two digits of the casting # on the block or heads is the year. The first digit will be a letter, indicating the decade C='60's, D='70's, E='80's, and so on. The second will be a # indicating the year. For example if your casting # is E4OE-#####, you engine is an '84 year model.

Looks like you have a 72 Fairlane or Torino engine block.

Do you know if it was rebuilt before being installed in your truck? If so, those were great blocks to do a rebuild on. The 75 - early 84 blocks had a lot of cracking problems due to poor workmenship.

Good luck,

:)>-

Thw oil amount shouldn't be any different than normal. You can check the dipstick after refill, should be 5-5-1/2 quarts. I would also search some of the Ford sites about the casting number to see exactly what you have. You might just have a rare block that can accept some great mods!!!
