Hi,

I am 16 years old and am planning on buying a Bronco this summer and I was wondering about Manual Hub Conversion Kits. All the Broncos that I have seen have been Automatic Locking Hubs. I was talking to a friend and he told me that Manual Locking Hubs are better than Automatic Locking Hubs because if you get stuck somewhere you can get out and turn on 4x4 by locking the hubs, but with Automatic Locking Hubs you have to be moving for the 4x4 to engage. So, I guess my question is, is it hard to change Automatic Locking Hubs to Manual Locking Hubs? And if you do get Manual Locking Hubs installed do you need to get a 4x4 lever installed in your car or do you just press the 4x4 button (factory installed, for Automatic Hubs) and get out of your car and lock the hubs?

Thanks,

Kris

Yes. but instead of repeating everything look down about 10 threads or so from the one you just posted. Billy's been asking about this and we've been batting it around for a week or so, it's an active topic with all the info you're looking for. If you have any questions shoot me a PM. The *short* version is that YES, swapping to manuals is a good idea, no it's not hard. I'll probably swap a set w/Billy in the next couple of months & post photos. Ck out the link and get back with us if you have any questions. Glad to have you here.

Hey,

What about the interior of the car would I have to install a 4x4 Lever (In manual cars it would be by the shifter) or just press the 4x4 button (for Automatic Locking Hubs) and get out lock the hubs manually?

Thanks,

Kris

If you have an electronic shifting 4x4 then you'll have to get out of the truck, turn the hubs to lock them and then put your truck in 4wd. There is no cable or push button for manual hubs, auto hubs lock in after so many turns and unlock so many turns the oposite direction. Make sence?

YOU DON'T HAVE TO INSTALL A LEVER,YOUR PUSH BUTTON WILL STILL DO THE SAMETHING AS FAR AS ENGAGING YOUR T-CASE...YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO STEP OUTSIDE TO LOCK IN YOUR HUBS IS ALL...HOPE THIS HELPS... :)>- AND WELCOME GLADE TO HAVE YOU HERE....

So, the total cost should be around $90.00-$150.00. I only need to but the Manual Locking Hubs and that is it, there are no other parts I would need to buy?

Thanks,

Kris

idk, I haven't bought a Bronco yet, I'm getting one this summer. Does the amount of bolts matter?

Thanks,

Kris
