Ive got one the HV oil pumps pump body is longer than a stock one which can cause interference with the pan , I actually had one that had a perfect very deep imprint of one of the 7/16 bolts that holds the cover plate for the oil pump on in the pan . So what is probably happening to you is your tightening the bolt up and the pan is pulling against one of those bolts then as it wears a little or the pan bends away it loosens up . Sucks you have to pull the pan to be sure though . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I didn't know about the pump size difference. Guess that explains the oil leaking crack in the pan !! What the **** were they thinking? Oh its a 351 by the way. I got the leak sealed, but when I snug all the bolts I can drive it twenty minuets and they'll have loosened. Things startin to get on my nerves. what oil pan,or application is is that pump for?

You can use that pump but you have to be a bit crude and break out the BFH and knock a dent in the pan for clearance mine rubbed on it till it wore through so I had to beat it out then weld the hole shut not quite sure what they were thinking . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I was thinking of dropping my oil pan on my 1989 in December to install a high Val. pump. SO you have to bang out the bottom of the oil pump to get a good fit? Never heard of that before  /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> But if thats what you have to do then so be it. I'll get my hammer when I start the job.
