I have a QuickLock which is essentially exactly the same.

I put mine in the front and I love it.

The popping took a while to get used to but it performs very well.

I put a lockright into my 83' and it works as discribed. However, when going around a turn under power it locks and the tires squeal on the pavement, when backing up it does the samething in fact the rearend locks up far more often than I want it to and it takes some of the fun out of driving it. The noise is not that bad in fact once you get use to it you don't even notice it. To make a long story short, I don't use the Bronco for mudding or rock climbing so if I had to do it again I would go with an agressive limited slip. Also a friend of mine and I put it in following instructions and when we tightened the bolts we could not turn the yoke so we had to loosen the bearing caps about half a turn on each side than it worked fine but it took us about six hours to install. Go to Randy's Ring and Pinion there web site gives information on the lockright and other diffs.

The locker ratchets like a Detroit when you turn if you are not under power

or in 4 wheel drive abd the hubs are locker.

The TTB having the axle shafts exposed, the ratcheting sends the click or popping sound out in the open.

Scared the shit outta me the first time I did it. But it's normal

The lock rite is a weak locker and can explode if you run larger than 33" tires. Seen it too many times on rigs with 35"+ tires. Sure you can make it last with carfull driving but for street driving you should go with a limited slip. Detroits are more expensive but don't pop as much and are twice as strong as a lock rite. Seems worth it to me. If the locker explodes expect to replacethe ring and pinion... Just remeber 60% of traction is in the rear and 40% up front so you want something strong in back and perhaps a cheaper alternative up front if need be.
