Wow...lots of info...didn't know there was so much to oil filters. Anyway I found the air filter I was looking for (crankcase breather...) and I replaced the oil filter with a motorcraft one. It didn't really seem to help the pressure a whole lot but made some improvement. As for the air filter she seemed to idle a bit better (also a never ending battle it seems). Back to the pressure problem...pcv valve or hoses maybe?

If you have a problem with low oil pressure or noises, the first thing I'd do is hook up a mechanical oil pressure gauge. You cannot rely on the factory "NORMAL" gauge. If you suffer from low oil pressure, it's most likely due to worn main bearings or a dying oil pump. A clogged pick-up tube for the pump will also starve it to a quick death.

If you tried the cheaper oil filter and still have issues then you have bigger problems. Dont rely on the factory gauge get it tested with a mechanical gauge for an accurate reading

sounds like a plan to me...i just hope she holds up a little longer
fords as we all know will handel low oil psi better than most other makes. 12-15 psi oil press will float the crank and provided there are no other obstructions (lifters, pushrods drain holes in the heads) low (not no) oil press can be delt with . I had a 78 351m with 200k miles on it before it lost all press then it got rebuilt. I put 80k on it before it went from 20psi to zero.
