Pretty small lift. Might be best to go with a leveling kit. They're only 200-300 $.

i got my 2.5 inch rough country lift through JC Whitney and it was only $200 its a nice lift kit, just drilling or using an air hamer to get those rivets out are a royal pain.. other than that everything went smooth

a leveling kit should only run around 150-170 dollars from rough country. i got the leveling kit and a steering stabilizer for my PU and it was around 230 with shipping. the 4" on my bronc is a RC and im very pleased with it

I am thinking of a leveling kit. Would 33 x 12.5 tires cause any clearance issues?

The tires may rub on the radius arms at full steering lock, but you should clear the fenders. Consider that with SOME leveling kit installs (1-1/2" to 2") that you will have problems getting the frontend alignmnet true. JSM84

Would a 4" lift be easier to align? I want to have good streetability because I want to drive the truck down to the gulf and do some fishing and climb the dunes. It is about an 8-10 hour drive.

Yes, a good 4" suspension lift kit with drop brackets for the axle beams and radius arms will put the steering geometry back to level. On the 80-86 models, most 33x12.50 tires will fit without any lifting. I put some on the 86 Bronco, in fact. But in my experience, the 4" lift kit rides better than stock and gives you more wheel travel. you don't need that a whole lot down on Padre or PINS, just good traction with an A/T tire and driving skills. But the kit would really help if you ever have to drive around on those county roads you have around Lubbock, TX. Many of them I could not take a car down due to washouts and deep sand. That would be outside the city limits, not in town, haha!!! I really do like the Bronco with a 4" lift and 33's, JSM84

How hard is it to install the lift? I do have access to shop but , is this something I could do in the driveway with a big jack and some power tools?

You can do it in the driveway with one or two jacks, and power/air tools make it easier. It takes me on average about 8-10 hours to install a lift on the TTB Broncos and F-150's, but I advise taking a weekend to do the install. Shop rates average around $550-$600, JSM84
