lift for uncut bronco?

I have just bought a 72 Bronco which is mostly stock. So far I am much happier with it than the 5 previous fj40s I have owned. I would really like to keep it as stock as possible, but I also think it needs a lift and bigger tires to be considered a proper 4x4 for my tastes. I want to do this without cutting the rear fenders because I want it to appear to be a factory setup, kind of like the ford tall boy pick up trucks of the 70s. I was at first considering a 2 1/2" lift with 31-10.50-15 BF Goodrich a/ts. From what I have researched, the 3 1/2" lifts with drop pitman arms have a better geometry. I am not looking to do any serious wheeling with this rig. Mybe some light trails, but I am mostly looking for a comfortable and safe road ride. I am also considering 3 1/2" with 33-9.50-15 BFG ats.

I am not looking to go extreme with this rig. I just want to raise it a little, to make it a comfortable factory trail rig if there is such a thing. Any Info or experience anyone has had along these lines will be greatly appreciated. I would really like to get this right the first time for a change. Pictures are also appreciated.

Hi Go to page 6or 7 for running 33s. I have BFGs 33X9.50X15 on my 67. I used mid 80s ralley rims from F150s. They hit the locating bars on the front at tight turns. I put new heavyduty springs in the front and had the rears rebuilt with an extra leaf put in. I don't have a picture reducing program to send pictures. If I have a full load of fuel, and the wife and kid onboard then I'll rub on bumps. I'm working on installing 1inch blocks. The extra leaf makes it sit level. Hope this helps.

You should get a 3.5" kit from Cage. They offer the softest/most flexible springs out there. As for the tires, 33x9.5 is the biggest you will be able to go without cutting the fenders. You need to also consider the rim offset. I don't remember what factory offset is, but you might be able to get away with them on that narrow of a tire. One thing that will happen is on the front, you will rub the radius arms with that tall of a tire. You might even crunch the fenders every now and then. I know that I get the fender support every once in a while if I come down ******* the front & I have flares on both ends.

Mine has a 2" spring lift and is running 265/75r15 same as 31x10.5 15s. Work Fine with no rubbing.

I run BF GoodRich T/As. 33x9.50x15 on mid 80's rallies 15x7 New heavy duty coils One exstra leaf and a 5/8th inch block. Only rubs the radious arms on tight turns.
