Hey guys, I'm new to the forum but not to Broncos. I have a 91XLT thats had gaskets replaced to fix heating and other engine problems($1,600 but engine seems strong)

Tranny slips when warm

Gas tank leaks

Brakes wear out fast

No heat

Rust on wheel wells

Some minor body damage

Has little value to anyone except me!!

I need some convincing to keep and restore it. I'm not a big off roader unless I going after a down deer or trying to get to a hidden fishing hole.

The gas tank for that body style isn't hard to do. You may also be using the wrong brake pads/shoes, try using Ford parts, not auto parts store brands. All broncos have bad wheel wells, I had to weld a plate over mine after I cut all the rust out. You should look at having the tranny rebuilt along with the engine. Your heat problem may have something to do with the duct work. My friend had no heat in his 78 f350, I took the heating duct work apart and found the circulating fan was being jammed by two old lighters. I joked that that WAS the heating system!

I'd say rebuild/repair whatever is wrong. BUT!!! IF your 91 has the E4OD auto tranny, a rebuild will cost about $2600. That may well be more than the whole Bronco is worth. You can prolly get $800-$1000 for it as is, so sell it or part it out. For $3000, you could buy a very nice 92-94 Bronco with a good body and drivetrain. IF you keep the Bronco and need to fix the tranny, find a used one in a junkyard or swap to a C-6 for about $600 max. JSM84
