Success at last! The ABS light is off and stays off. Only took 7 months . Last week I installed the last of three main ABS components, the Acceleration Module. The old one was cracked possibly from internal corrosion. Thanks to Steve Byars for that part and info.UPDATE: The long and winding road to repairing the ABS system took a big leap yesterday with install of the 4WABS HCU picked from a 60k mile '96 donor Bronco. It's electric motor was bench tested first to ensure function; the old one was tested too and it has an open circuit. But the ABS light is still on so chasing down codes 41/42 front brake sensors and code 65 Acceleration Sensor. Did not get a code 11 (Control Module) even though these are known to go bad if the HCU fails. Fun and games!
